WHAT HAPPENED?
Lineker, along with former players and pundits Micah Richards and Alan Shearer, have been part of the Rest is Football Podcast, analysing the matches at Euro 2024. After England's second group stage game against Denmark, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the former Spurs and Barcelona star delivered a scathing assessment of the Three Lions players, labelling their performance 'sh*t'.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
According to a report published by The Times, the ex-England forward has pocketed £125,000 since the start of the tournament. From advertisements, he has received payments worth £45 per 1,000 views every time he mentions the sponsors and £15 if they are associated with them. Views and listens have gone up significantly and as per his son Harry, who produces the podcast, there has been a steep rise in the number of downloads.

While the critical analysis has earned Lineker a sizable amount of money, it has not gone down well with English players, especially captain Harry Kane, who recently hit back at his former team-mate.
